The Gentle Way

I keep my work simple and clear. I’m neurodivergent myself, and much of my work has been with others who have experienced the world differently or feel out of step with typical expectations. I’ve been sober for over thirty years, and my background includes grief counseling, chaplaincy, and years of accompanying people through loss, recovery, and major life transitions. I’m also a published author, writing both science fiction and books on grief and Twelve Step recovery, work that reflects a long-standing interest in story, meaning, and how people make sense of what they’ve lived through. This is pastoral guidance and companionship, not therapy or coaching. We move at a steady pace, with room to think, speak honestly, and take the next step without pressure or fixing.

How I Work

I keep this work simple, clear, and grounded. The goal is to reduce pressure, not add to it.

This is pastoral guidance and companionship, not therapy, coaching, or crisis care. Everything about how I work is designed to be steady, respectful, and transparent.

Where We Begin

Before any ongoing work, I offer a free 15-minute consultation.

This is a short, no-pressure conversation where we:

  • Get a sense of what you’re looking for

  • See whether this work feels like a good fit

  • Clarify any questions about scope, pace, or expectations

There’s no obligation to continue. This is simply a way to begin with clarity and mutual consent.

Ways We Can Work Together

After the initial conversation, there are several ways to continue. Each option offers a different level of depth and structure.

Individual Sessions

These are one-on-one conversations focused on slowing down, making sense of your story, and finding a steadier way forward.

What this includes:

  • Mindful guidance and spiritual companionship

  • Space to reflect, speak honestly, and think things through

  • A pace shaped by recovery wisdom and lived experience

Sessions are conversational and reflective. I don’t diagnose, assign treatment plans, or direct outcomes. We work with what’s present and take things one step at a time.

Ongoing or Structured Work

Some people prefer a more consistent rhythm or a defined season of work together.

This may include:

  • A series of individual sessions

  • A focused period of reflection and discernment

  • Gentle structure without pressure or performance

We’ll talk through what makes sense based on your needs and capacity.

What Makes These Options Different

The difference between options isn’t intensity, it’s structure and continuity.

  • A single session offers space and clarity

  • Ongoing work offers steadiness and integration

  • Structured work offers a defined container without urgency

Nothing here is designed to rush you or keep you dependent.

Meeting Format

  • All sessions are conducted exclusively via Google Meet

  • You’ll receive the meeting link after scheduling or payment

Payment

  • Payment is handled through Venmo

  • Details are shared clearly before any session begins

Records & Privacy

Because this is not therapy:

  • I do not keep clinical records

  • I do not record sessions

  • I do not store detailed notes

What you share is treated with respect and discretion, but this work does not involve medical or clinical documentation.

What This Is — and Isn’t

This work is:

  • Professional and non-clinical

  • Shaped by recovery wisdom and neurodivergent awareness

  • Focused on honesty, steadiness, and discernment

This work is not:

  • Therapy or mental health treatment

  • Diagnosis or assessment

  • Crisis intervention

  • Or performance optimization

If you’re looking for clinical care, I encourage you to seek a licensed provider. I’m always happy to help you think through next steps if you’re unsure.

A Final Note

You don’t need to be ready or certain to reach out.

If you’re looking for a calmer pace, clear boundaries, and a way forward that doesn’t rely on pressure or fixing, we can start with a simple conversation.

We begin where you are. There’s no rush.
